About Riven Mods for Warframe
A Riven mod is a special Warframe mod for one specific weapon with random stats: bonuses to damage, critical chance and critical damage, multishot and other attributes, sometimes with one negative stat. A Riven's value depends on its stat combination and the weapon's disposition, so great and mediocre Rivens differ enormously in cost.
Rivens are only handed over by in-game trade: you meet the seller in a trading area and accept the trade. In the trade window, compare the weapon, every stat, the required Mastery Rank, the polarity and the reroll count with the listing. Trading requires two-factor protection and a sufficient Mastery Rank.
Before buying, make sure you own the weapon the Riven is for and actually use it, since the mod works with that weapon only. If you are unsure whether the stats suit your build, describe the build to the seller in the deal chat; experienced sellers will advise you.
Veiled Rivens are sold as a gamble: the exact weapon is revealed only after you complete its challenge. Confirm the deal once the mod is in your collection.
FAQ
What should I check in the Riven trade window?
The weapon name, every stat and its value, the negative stat, the polarity, the required Mastery Rank and the reroll count. Everything must match the listing's screenshot; if it does not, do not accept the trade.
What is weapon disposition?
It is the multiplier on Riven strength for a particular weapon. The developers revise it from time to time, so after an update the stats of a Riven you bought may become weaker or stronger.
