Ableton plugins are extra instruments and effects for Live: synths, samplers, compressors and reverbs, as well as sound packs, presets and Max for Live devices. Plugins extend the program beyond its built-in set, so they are bought by producers who need a particular sound, a handy mixing tool or a ready library for their genre.
The delivery method depends on the plugin developer: it may be a serial number, a licence on your account with the maker, or a file to download. Before paying, check the name and version, the plugin format, support for your system and processor, and whether the licence will be registered to you so that you can receive updates.
Once you have the plugin, install it, rescan the plugin folders in Live's settings and make sure the instrument loads on a track, works without demo limits and shows no authorisation errors. Confirm the deal after that check, and open a dispute if activation fails.
Be careful with suspiciously cheap offers and files without a licence: pirated builds often contain malicious code and stop working after an update. Do not pay outside the deal, and do not give the seller the passwords to your accounts with plugin makers.
On Windows Live works with VST, and on macOS with VST and Audio Units. Ask the seller whether the format you need is available for your system.
Enable the plugin folder in the settings and rescan. If that does not help, message the seller before confirming.
If the licence is registered to your account with the developer, usually yes. It is worth confirming before you pay.
